Micro-Needling

To improve your skin’s overall appearance and diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, micro-needling in Fort Smith is a popular skin resurfacing treatment with minimal downtime. A safe alternative to lasers and dermal rollers, micro-needling can be used to improve skin on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

Micro-needling in Fort Smith can improve:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Skin tone
  • Skin texture
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks

At Arkansas Vein Clinic and Skin Care, we proudly perform micro-needling using the Eclipse MicroPen® Elite, which won the Aesthetic Industry Award for Best Micro-Needling Device. Composed of medical grade stainless steel, the MicroPen Elite is affordable and effective, requires minimal downtime, and provides natural-looking results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Micro-needling in Northwest Arkansas at Arkansas Vein Clinic and Skin Care

What is micro-needling?

Micro-needling uses fine needles to puncture the skin, creating a controlled skin injury that triggers the skin’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

What are the benefits of micro-needling in Fort Smith?

For refreshed, glowing skin, micro-needling is an ideal treatment that diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It can also improve other common skin concerns, including hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne scars, and stretch marks. It is an ideal treatment for patients who don’t have time for downtime.

How is the procedure done?

A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 points is attached to the MicroPen. After cleansing the skin, a thin layer of Hydrating B5 gel is applied to your skin. We will then glide the MicroPen across your skin, creating tiny punctures that allow your skin to absorb the Hydrating B5 gel. To help soothe your skin and optimize your results, we will provide a three-day post-procedure kit after each treatment.

Is micro-needling painful?

Many report that the MicroPen feels like light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas of your skin are more sensitive than others, we will take every precaution to ensure your comfort, including the application of a numbing cream approximately 45 to 60 minutes prior to treatment.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. However, you will need to arrive 45 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time for numbing cream application.

Is there any downtime?

Immediately following your MicroPen session, your skin will be bright red, which can last two to four days, along with some mild swelling. You will also likely have some pinpoint bleeding.  Your healing time will depend on the intensity of your treatment and the sensitivity of your skin. You can immediately resume normal activities, but you should not expose your skin to the sun for three days following your treatment. Thorough daily sun protection is recommended long-term to improve and maintain your results.

When will I see results?

Many patients notice that their skin looks more radiant as early as two weeks following treatment. However, you’ll continue to see results develop naturally over the course of several weeks. Collagen production continues for up to six months after treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

For optimal results, we recommend three to five treatments every six to eight weeks. Some patients with more severe wrinkles, photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars may require six to eight sessions at six-week intervals followed by a single treatment once or twice a year.
